Why We Give Back

When my daughter Emma was just 18 months old, she was diagnosed with autism. Because her diagnosis came so early, she became part of something much bigger than our family. Emma was among the first children in Manatee County [Florida] to help support efforts toward a bill requiring pediatricians to screen for early signs of autism during routine wellness visits.
That season wasn’t easy. It meant long days of evaluations, a lot of focus on a very little person, and learning how to navigate a system that can feel overwhelming fast. The state of Florida covered travel and medical expenses for our involvement, but what we gained went far beyond that.
We walked away with real knowledge, practical tools, and a much deeper understanding of how to support and advocate for our daughter as she grows.
That kind of support stays with you.
When A. Parlin Project began to grow, giving back wasn’t a marketing decision. It was personal. I had already seen firsthand what access to the right resources can do, and I knew I wanted to be part of that for other families.
In our first year of business, we dedicated April—Autism Awareness Month—as a time to give back. As the business grew, I wanted to make that impact more consistent and easier to understand.
In 2026, we partnered with Autism Society of Florida to expand that mission. What started as donating 10% of profits evolved into something more clear and tangible:
$1 from every bracelet purchased goes directly to support autism initiatives.
As the business continues to grow, so does the goal. I’d love to give back across everything, but I also believe in building this the right way—making sure it’s sustainable so we can keep showing up long-term.
What hasn’t changed is April.
Each year, April is still our biggest month of giving. During that time, $1 from every purchase across the entire shop is donated to the Autism Society. It’s a reflection of where this started, why it matters, and who it’s always been for.
A. Parlin Project was built with purpose from day one and giving back will always be part of that.
